One of the best selling video game and movie franchises of all time now arrives on interactive DVD, where audiences can use the remote on their DVD player to control the action as Lara Croft fights to clear her name and solve an exciting mystery of betrayal and vengeance.  With over 30 million video games sold and over $300 million at the box-office, the Lara Croft brand is as popular as ever, and fans of the franchise are already eagerly awaiting the interactive DVD’s release.

Set for release November 6th in the UK, and then December 12th for USA, The DVD hopes to bring new players to the world of Tomb Raider as well as encouraging old players to get involved once more!

Press Release

The Interactive DVD game Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Action Adventure™ enables the player to control Lara with the simple ‘up’, ‘down’, ‘left’, ‘right’ and ‘enter’ command buttons of a standard DVD remote control and is aimed squarely at the non-gamer mainstream market.  This revolutionary concept in DVD gaming is produced by Bright Entertainment and distributed by Goldhil Entertainment.

“Interactive DVDs have been extremely popular with quiz shows and board games,” says Dominic Wheatley, the Chief Executive Officer of Bright Entertainment. “But the creation of Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Action Adventure™ takes the concept to a higher level by creating a new category of entertainment based on video game franchises. It’s the perfect holiday gift for people who have never played video games before or the numerous Lara Croft fans.”

Because the interactive DVD game only requires a DVD player found in a majority of U.S. households, the excitement of the Tomb Raider phenomenon can now be taken to a much wider audience.

“Goldhil has concentrated on interactive DVDs precisely because the DVD player is easily the most popular entertainment platform used by consumers today,” notes Paul Culberg, President and COO at Goldhil. “Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Action Adventure™ is especially high profile, and it’s the perfect blend of the movie experience combined with the excitement of gaming.”

Based on Lara’s Angel of Darkness adventure, the new release finds Lara framed for a crime she did not commit, and players help her struggle to clear her name and solve an exciting mystery of betrayal and vengeance. Gameplay features puzzle solving and non- stop action adventure. The game can be played repeatedly to achieve better scores and also contains multi-player functionality that allows players to divide into teams and challenge one another.

Launched in 1996, Tomb Raider™ is one of the best selling videogame franchises of all time with over 30 million copies sold. Lara Croft™ has transcended games, entertainment and technology in a way no other character has, including action figures, comic books, adventure novels, and two major motion pictures starring Angelina Jolie. In 2006 Lara Croft was entered into the Guinness Book of World Records as ‘Most Successful Human Videogame Heroine’.
